Before half time, the Americans were leading 3-0, and no one had a clue of what awaited the match in the second half.

With four goals within six minutes, the U.S team added on six more in sixteen minutes before the end.

While Morgan started off with the scoring spree, Rose Lavelle and Lindsey Horan’s chipped in with goals.

Samantha Mewis resumed with another goal after halftime leaving the Thais clearly rattled.

The star performers were Morgan (5), Mewis (2), Lavelle (2), Mallory Pugh, Megan Rapinoe, Carli Lloyd and Horan. The spectacular performance put up by the US team is a stern reminder to all the other teams that it’s going to hard tough to beat the current World Champions.

Their result breezed out Germany’s win over Argentina by 11-0 in 2007. They almost doubled America’s own past record of a 7-0 victory over Taiwan in the year 1991.

Nuengrutai Srathongvian, the Thai coach admitted that their players could not put up a satisfactory fight, whereas, the U.S gave an excellent performance.

Jillian Ellis, the U.S. coach said that the success was certainly a confidence booster. However, they did not get swayed away from their focus on the tournament.

On Sunday, the U. S are going to face Chile and Thailand will meet Sweden.
