Sainz and Russell shine in the FI driver ratings by Autosport readers

George Russell and Carlos Sainz Jr are here to show the world that they are the true under achievers of driver ratings by the Autosport readers following one-third of the Formula 1 season in 2019.

The McLaren racer and Williams’s new entrant rank four and five respectively in the aggregated ranking developed through the votes of Autosport readers in driver ratings.

Russell and Sainz are led by a duo of title challengers from Mercedes and Max Verstappen, the lead driver of Red Bull.

Valtteri Bottas could not defend his lead in the chart of ratings due to disappointing performances in races in Canada and Morocco and has now descended to third.

With Verstappen securing a rank between Bottas and Hamilton, a new trend has set in the races. The order is no more about the one-two Mercedes. Verstappen has 8.28/10 average ratings to his credit, only a few points away from Hamilton’s 8.57.

However, underdogs have certainly impressed the readers up till now this year.

Coming to the ninth place, one finds that the next racer from a top team- Charles Leclerc of Ferrari is behind Sergio Perez of Racing Point and Alex Albon and Daniil Kvyat pair from Toro Rosso.

While Leclerc stood second in the chart, Sebastian Vettel gathered ground and moved to 15th.

Lance Stroll was ranked to be the worst racer in this season. Nonetheless, his charge to ninth from seventeenth helped him jump three places.

Robert Kubica, Williams’s returnee sat at the bottom with 5.55 out of 10 average scores.
