Sergio Aguero could return for Manchester City against Stoke City after suffering broken ribs from a car crash in Amsterdam.
The Argentina international has been sidelined for both his club and country, who recently secured their spot in next year’s World Cup, for the past week.
It was feared the injury could keep the forward out indefinitely, but Pep Guardiola is confident he will be back soon – maybe even for this weekend’s game.
Speaking ahead of Manchester City’s Premier League clash with Stoke City at the Etihad Stadium, Guardiola discussed the striker’s progress.

“He did his first training session after what happened,” said Guardiola.
“He did quite well. Hopefully as soon as possible he will be back. Maybe [against Stoke City].”

The Citizens beat Chelsea 1-0 in a closely fought contest last time out, with former Blues midfielder Kevin De Bruyne scoring the only goal of the game.
Guardiola’s men are currently top of the Premier League after seven games played, and are on joint points with city rivals Manchester United.
