Jose Mourinho has been buoyed in his search for a new midfielder as Monaco’s Fabinho has declared he wants to join Manchester United .
The Sun report that the Brazilian international is keen on a move away from the French Ligue 1 club this summer with Old Trafford understood to be his first choice.
Mourinho would have to dig into the United war chest again, as the 24-year-old would command a fee around the £55 million mark.
But that would not deter the Portuguese boss, who sees Fabinho as an ideal addition in place of Marouane Fellani – who looks set to leave the club – and the retiring Michael Carrick.
Mkhitaryan dig at Mourinho
Henrikh Mkhitaryan says it was important for him to play in an “offensive team” after switching Manchester United for Arsenal in January.
After just a season and a half at Old Trafford, Jose Mourinho sanctioned his transfer to Arsenal in exchange for Alexis Sanchez.
Since joining the north Londoners, Mkhitaryan has found the back of the net twice and produced five assists.
The Armenian believes he couldn’t have started any better at Arsenal and appears to take a swipe at Jose Mourinho and United’s style of play.
Bale should not join United
Gareth Bale could become another Jose Mourinho misfit if he leaves Real Madrid for Manchester United this summer.
That’s the view of one-time United and England defender Paul Parker who believes Bale would be just another big-name player in a team without a proper playing identity under Mourinho.
The 28-year-old Welshman – consigned to the bench by coach Zinedine Zidane in Madrid’s spectacular 3-0 Champions League win at Juventus – could be heading out of The Bernabeu this summer.
But Parker has reservations about Old Trafford being his best option.
