Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has trained ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash at Feyenoord.

The Brazilian suffered facial injuries in a nasty clash with Liverpool’s Sadio Mane at the weekend and City are assessing his fitness ahead of the Group F opener in Rotterdam.

Centre-back John Stones praised his team-mate’s character, saying: “Ederson has got on with it straight away.

“After the game in the changing room, he was speaking to the boys as if nothing had happened, which shows what character he’s got.

Guardiola admits he doesn’t know if City are any closer to winning the Champions League

“He just wants to be around the team, in that environment. I’ve personally not tried to ask him too much about it because I know everyone else will be.

“Everyone has seen his face — the stitches, the swelling — but he’s got on with it. He put a scrum cap on and trained today.”

Captain Vincent Kompany is doubtful with the calf injury that saw him miss out on Saturday but forward Raheem Sterling is available after a domestic ban.

Provisional squad: Ederson, Bravo, Walker, Danilo, Mendy, Otamendi, Stones, Adarabioyo, Mangala, Toure, Delph, Gundogan, Fernandinho, De Bruyne, D Silva, B Silva, Sterling, Sane, Diaz, Foden, Aguero, Jesus.
