Liverpool have received a boost in their chase of Roma goalkeeper Alisson after the Serie A side identified a replacement for the in-demand shot-stopper.
That is according to Italian outlet Calciomercato, who say Roma are weighing up a move for Genoa custodian Mattia Perin.
Perin looks set to leave his current club at the end of the season after making 142 appearances for the side, and Juventus and Napoli are also monitoring his situation.
Liverpool continued to be linked with a swoop for Alisson who has established himself as one of Europe’s premier goalkeepers over the course of this season.
Salah breaks Premier League goal record
Mo Salah broke the Premier League record for a 38-game season in Liverpool’s final game of the campaign at home to Brighton , and picked up the Golden Boot for good measure.
The Egyptian scored his 32nd of the league campaign at the Kop end 26 minutes into the game, calming mounting nerves in a match the Reds had to avoid defeat in to seal qualification for the top four.
They ended up running out 4-0 winners , thanks to further strikes from Dejan Lovren, Dominic Solanke and Andy Robertson.
Alan Shearer, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez had all managed 31 in a 38-game season before – the total that Salah was on before the final weekend of the campaign – but the forward’s strike, his 44th of the season in all competitions, sees him move above the Premier League legends.
Klopp fires Salah-shaped warning to rest of PL
Premier League defenders beware, Mo Salah is only going to get better.
That was the menacing message from Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, as he celebrated a new goalscoring record from his star forward – and qualification for the Champions League next season into the bargain.
Salah scored his 32nd goal of the league campaign to break the record in a single 38 game season previously held by Alan Shearer, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez.
But afterwards, as the Reds manager heaped praise on his Egyptian King, he claimed: “He has played this season outstandingly, but he is young enough and has enough potential to improve.
“That’s really good news for all of us and him as well. He still has work to do, and I am really happy about that. But what he is in his mind is a real goal-getter and that’s cool. He wants to. I’ll mix it up in a few moments and there’ll be goals again.”
