Liverpool are bidding to pip Tottenham to Werder Bremen sensation David Philipp, according to reports.
The 17-year-old midfielder is one of the Bundesliga’s hottest young stars right now after wowing in Bremen’s youth ranks.
Sky Deutschland have claimed that Liverpool are one of the teams tracking Philipp’s progress, while Spurs are also considering a bid.
Philippe’s current contract expires at the end of this season.
Bremen academy director Bjorn Schierenbeck has previously said: “I wouldn’t want to rule out the interest in David from the English clubs.
“But I don’t know exactly how firm it is. We would be very eager to continue working together with David.”

Joel Matip has back Jurgen Klopp to get it right at Liverpool by insisting their is “no doubt” about their style of play.
The German has come under fire in recent weeks as the Reds’ back line continues to leak goals.
But the Cameroon international insists the team must defend better together and that he wouldn’t want to play any other way.
KLOPP SPEAKS AHEAD OF LIVERPOOL’S CLASH WITH LEICESTER
“Both parts only work together,” Matip told NBC’s Pro Soccer Talk. “I cannot stand at the back and our attackers go forward and there is so much big space.
“We all have to fit together. It is not always easy but this is our way of play but I think that is a good way of playing.
“Everything has its positive and negative sides but I have no doubt about our way of playing.”
Liverpool Squad For Leicester Game
Lovren is likely to miss the game for Liverpool
Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren is unlikely to feature at Leicester as he has not trained this week because of the back injury which forced him to sit out their last two matches.
Fellow centre-back Joel Matip is also a doubt as he is carrying a knock from last weekend’s draw with Burnley.
Midfielder Emre Can returned to training on Thursday after recovering from a minor injury while forward Sadio Mane serves the final match of his suspension.
“It’s nothing major for Dejan but it’s been enough to keep him out of the past two games,” Klopp said.
