In an attempt to add diversity to the team that chooses the annual Grammy Awards, the Recording Academy has invited Korean Pop famous boy band- BTS.
A whopping 1300 artists, writers and professionals from the music industry have been invited to be a part of this wonderful academy.
If BTS accepts the offer they will be allowed to cast their vote during the 2020 Grammy Awards. Bang Si-hyuk, chief executive Big Hit Entertainment (BTS’s record label) has also been invited.
The Seoul based band formed when they were teenagers and have slowly become a sensation with millions of fans all over the world.
Recipient of one Billboard music award, they were nominated for the 2019 Grammy Awards for their latest release, “Love Yourself: Tear.”
The members of the band, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook uses anecdotes from their life to present in their songs.
The Academy rules have become stricter regarding expanding the Grammy nominees by various musicians rather than the older male.
The Recording Academy came up with this decision after an intense discussion where the authorities came to an agreement.
Sources say, out of all the people asked to join the academy, 51% are under 40 years of age while a majority of them are women.
