Jurgen Klopp has recalled the first time he believed Liverpool could win the Champions League this season.
The Reds take on Real Madrid in the final on May 26 in Kiev, Ukraine, and have fought off some fierce competition to make it this far.
Liverpool saw off Premier League champions Manchester City in the quarter-finals before edging out Roma in the semis.
However, Klopp has revealed he knew Liverpool could win the competition before both of those ties – when they beat Porto 5-0 in the last-16.
It was the first leg and Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino all scored inside the Estadio do Dragao.
Speaking exclusively to Mirror Football columnist and Reds legend Robbie Fowler, Klopp said: “I think the 5-0 was the first time that everybody went ‘wow’.
“Porto was the first time people asked, ‘wow, what is going on there’. Because Porto are a really good football team.
“And that night we were really surprised by ourselves to go there and win 5-0 – there’s no chance to do that!”
