The new Snapchat update is here and most people are not enjoying the changes it has brought with it.
There are significant changes to the layout of the app, with the Friends, Discover and Stories sections all getting a revamp.
However, even if this might work out for the best in the long run, many users are not exactly happy with the severe alteration to one of their favourite social media platforms.
Snapchat braced themselves for negative reviews: ‘Updates as big as this one can take a little getting used to, but we hope the community will enjoy it once they settle in,’ a spokesman said.
How to get the Snapchat update
For most people, the app will just update automatically, so simply open Snapchat and you will see the changes without having to do anything.
This should happen if you have the latest operating systems on your Android or iOS device.
However, if you don’t have the latest operating system, or you have turned off automatic updates, then you will have to manually install the update.
You can do this by by heading to the App Store (for iOS devices) or the Play Store (Android).
In the App Store there is an ‘Updates’ section, whilst in the Play Store you will go to ‘My Apps’ – tap the appropriate Snapchat update to install.
It is as easy as that, and as long as you have a decent internet connection then it should only take a matter of seconds, certainly no more than a couple of minutes.
If you then want to revert to your old version of Snapchat, you can, but it is a fiddly process – here s a guide.
