Cristiano Ronaldo reacted angrily after the first Champions League red card of his career against Valencia, Leonardo Bonucci has revealed.
The competition’s all-time leading scorer was given marching orders after appearing to put his hand on the head of Jeison Murillo in the first half of the Group H clash at the Mestalla.
Ronaldo could miss a return to Old Trafford when Juventus play his former club Manchester United next month.
And his Juventus team-mate Bonuccia has lifted the lid on how Ronaldo reacted to his dismissal.
He said: Ronaldo is angry, but it was predictable.
“In my opinion it was a normal clash even though I was far away from the action. In certain provocations we must be stronger than everything and everyone. We must respond as a team.”
Meanwhile, boss Max Allegri claims the decision would have been reversed if VAR was used.
Allegri said: “I can only say that VAR would’ve helped the referee in this decision.
“Going down to 10 men in the Champions League for an incident like that is disappointing.
“We risked losing tonight with this and we’ll miss him for the next games too.”
