Amidst the complete chaos reigning over Brexit, Jeremy Corbyn, the leader of the Labour Party was asked if he had May’s contact number and he appeared somewhat surprised. According to the prime minister, she invited Corbyn for a meeting with her regarding Brexit. This situation does not seem quite natural.
Mrs May offered the opposition leader a meeting after the failure of the Labour no-confidence vote. On the other hand, Corbyn gave an EU diplomat a bizarre look on asking about May’s phone number. Politico, the diplomat in context said: “He looked at me as if I came from a different planet.”
The diplomat added that what Jeremy knows of Brexit “was relatively superficial”. The Labour leader has stated that the prime minister has to rule out a no-deal Brexit before any good and productive discussion can take place.
The YouGov poll for the Times shows that the Tories are 6 points ahead of Labour with 41% support. Mrs May, after surviving the no-confidence vote with a majority of 19, said that her door would remain open for Brexit talks with Mr Corbyn. Mrs May added: “I believe it is my duty to deliver on the British people’s instruction to leave the European Union. And I intend to do so.”
Following the government’s defeat on Tuesday night, David Lammy, the Labour MP has insisted on Corbyn to back a ‘People’s Vote’. He also claimed that the Labour leader might face problems if he continues to avoid making a choice.
